I'M WORTH A LOT

Assalamualaikum w.b.t,

I'M WORTH A LOT'.

In a brief conversation, a man asked a woman he was pursuing the question: 'What kind of man are you looking for?'
She sat quietly for a moment before looking him in the eye and asking, 'Do you really want to know?'

Reluctantly, he said, 'Yes.'
She began to expound, 'As a woman in this day & age, I am in a position to ask a man what can you do for me that I can't do for myself? I pay my own bills. I take care of my household without the help of any man... or woman for that matter. I am in the position to ask, 'What can you bring to the table?'

The man looked at her. Clearly he thought that she was referring to money.

She quickly corrected his thought & stated, 'I am not referring to money. I need something more. I need a man who is striving for excellence in every aspect of life’.
He sat back in his chair, folded his arms, & asked her to explain.

She said, 'I need someone who is striving for excellence mentally because I need conversation & mental stimulation. I don't need a simple-minded man. I need someone who is striving for excellence spiritually because I don't need to be unequally yoked...believers mixed with unbelievers is a recipe for disaster. I need a man who is striving for excellence financially because I don't need a financial burden. I need someone who is sensitive enough to understand what I go through as a woman, but strong enough to keep me grounded. I need someone who has integrity in dealing with relationships. Lies and game-playing are not my idea of a strong man. I need a man who is family-oriented. One who can be the leader, priest and provider to the lives entrusted to him by God.
I need someone whom I can respect. In order to be submissive, I must respect him. I cannot be submissive to a man who isn't taking care of his business. I have no problem being submissive...he just has to be worthy.
And by the way, I am not looking for him...He will find me. He will recognize himself in me. He may not be able to explain the connection, but he will always be drawn to me. God made woman to be a help-mate for man. I can't help a man if he can't help himself ’.
When she finished her spiel, she looked at him. He sat there with a puzzled look on his face. He said, 'You are asking a lot’.

She replied, "I'm worth a lot".
Send this to every woman who's worth a lot.... and every man who has the brains to understand!!

Well, this is the truth for women for these ages.
HOWEVER, LOVE TOWARDS YOUR LORD/GOD ARE MORE IMPORTANT TO MAINTAIN YOUR RELATIONSHIP.

Alluhu'alam.

HOW TO IDENTIFY THE BEST BOSSES

4 Behaviors Shared by the Best Bosses.

HOW TO IDENTIFY THE BEST BOSSES

I've been conducting a series of workshops on effective leadership. They are based on research that has helped us discover the behaviors that are displayed by the most effective leaders. Interestingly, it doesn't matter which sector these leaders come from - business, government, education, nonprofits. Effective leader behaviors are quite consistent across different types of leaders. See how your boss (or you) measure(s) up.

Positive Expectations and Attitude. I've written before about the Pygmalion Effect - the notion that simply holding positive expectations about your team's performance will create a self-fulfilling prophecy and lead to high levels of performance. But there's more to it than that. Effective leaders are also optimistic and upbeat. They exude confidence, in their own leadership, and in the competencies and capabilities of their teams.

Fairness. There are two types of justice. Distributive justice is based on outcomes. Do people get rewards and recognition that fairly reflects their contributions? The second type is procedural justice. Is the leader fair and impartial in how rewards and recognition are decided? Both are important.

Authenticity. Good leader-follower relationships are built on trust, and nothing builds trust more than a leader who is straightforward and "authentic." Authentic leaders don't have hidden agendas. They let people know exactly what they are trying to do, and how they are trying to accomplish it. Good leaders are honest. They don't expect others to do anything they wouldn't do, and they embody the mission of the group or organization. As they say, good leaders "walk the talk."

Good Communication. This is seemingly simple, but the very best leaders communicate effectively and they communicate constantly. They inform, clarify, and connect. Unfortunately, too many leaders undercommunicate (I often say that it's impossible for a leader to "overcommunicate"). They assume followers know more than they do. They assume that "if I've told them once, they know and understand." Repetition is important.

Good communication underlies all of the other behaviors - you need to communicate positive expectations and attitude, explain clearly procedures and the rationale for policies, and develop good, solid interpersonal relationships with those you lead.

So, how do you develop these positive leader behaviors?

Use a leadership model to guide you. The model I find most effective is transformational leadership, because it is relationship-based and built on empowering team members.

Devote time each week to developing your leadership. "Leadership is a journey, not a destination." The best leaders work at it, and work hard.

Get feedback. Find out what you do right, and what you can improve.

Work hard. There are best leadership practices. Learn what these are and work hard to develop them in yourself.

SMART SAVING, SMART SPENDING (PENGURUSAN KEWANGAN PERIBADI)

Assalamualaikum w.b.t,

PENGURUSAN HUTANG & KEWANGAN ANDA

1.     Bagaimana meningkatkan pengurusan kewangan anda?

Ø  Jadi pembeli bijak (pilih tawaran terbaik)

Ø  Sediakan dana kecemasan (menabung sekurang-kurangnya enam(6) bulan perbelanjaan bulanan anda)

DANA KECEMASAN
Penggunaan biasa bagi dana kecemasan:
*      Kehilangan pekerjaan
*      Kemalangan
*      Perubatan
*      Membaiki kerosakan
*      Bencana alam
*      Kematian
“ untuk 3 – 6 bulan kos sara hidup ”

CARA UNTUK MENAMBAHKAN HARTA BERSIH
*      Tingkatkan tabungan
*      Kurangkan perbelanjaan
*      Langsaikan hutang
*      Lupuskan aset yang tidak menjana pendapatan

PINJAMAN BANK
Peraturan meminjam:
ü  Untuk tujuan produktif sahaja.
ü  Mengikut kemampuan.
ü  Tanggungjawab moral untuk membayar kembali.

Nisbah hutang kepada pandapatan bersih (%) adalah:
(Pembayaran balik bulanan pinjaman / pendapatan bulanan bersih) x 100
Contoh:
( RM 690.00/ RM 1800.00) X 100 = 38.33%

Tips!!!

Maintaining Positivity While Job Seeking

The job search can be a long and grueling process. In order to maintain positivity while job seeking, you’ll need to create good habits to keep your confidence levels up, be healthy and stay motivated. Follow these 10 tips to stay positive while searching for job opportunities.

1. Set small goals: Landing a job shouldn’t be your only goal during the job search. It can take months to find the right position so in order to stay positive, set small goals for yourself so you can celebrate small successes along the way. Set quotas for jobs applied for, networking events attended and new connections made on social media.
2. Do something you’re good at: When job seeking, it’s easy to feel rejected and lose confidence in your skills and talents. One of the best ways to counter this is to do something you’re good at that makes you feel successful, talented and competent. This will help keep your spirits up during the job search and remind you of what you’re capable of.
3. Be social: Job searching can leave you depressed and unmotivated. During a long job search, you may want to start staying in all the time and rarely making time to visit friends and go out. In order to stay positive, it’s important that you keep your social life going. This will help keep you motivated and energized for the grueling job search. It will also help keep you fresh in your friend’s minds if they hear of any job opportunities for you.
4. Have a support system: Although you should try to stay objective and not take rejection personally in the job hunt, it does begin to weigh on you after a while. Develop a support system to help you through your job search. Connect with friends or others who are also searching for a job so you don’t feel alone in the process.

5. Take care of your own needs:  When job searching, it’s more important than ever to take care of your own needs. Eat well, exercise and get plenty of rest. Make time to do whatever it is you love doing for fun, be it sports, dance, theatre or arts and crafts.  Job searching and especially being unemployed can be tiring and disappointing, so it’s important to focus on some things that you enjoy doing and take your mind off the stress of searching for a job.
6. Take personal days: If you’re searching for a job then of course you should take it seriously, put in the time needed to search and send out applications and work diligently like it was your job. But job searching constantly will wear on you and start to affect the quality of your work. Once a week, change up your normal routine or take a break entirely from the job search for 24 hours. You’ll feel refreshed and regain your energy after a much needed break.
7. Look for temp or freelance work: Finding temporary or freelance work can drastically decrease the stress of having to find a job. You’ll feel more relaxed having some form of income and you can take your time finding job openings that are a good fit for you. Ask family and friends if they have any odd jobs they need done, look for babysitting gigs, tutor students after school, or provide music lessons. Whatever skills you have, try to use them to help you gain part-time or temporary work while you look for something full-time in your field.
8. Volunteer your skills: Find an issue you’re passionate about and find a local community organization where you can volunteer your skills. Volunteering will get you out, help you network and allow you to give back to the community and gain a different perspective. It’s also good to show employers that you’ve been making use of your time, even if you haven’t been working.
9. Keep networking: Just because you’ve reached out to friends and colleagues doesn’t mean your networking should stop there. Keep meeting new people in your profession and seek out new ways to network with others.
10. Stay optimistic: Staying positive in the job search requires a commitment to being optimistic. Practice celebrating small successes and reward yourself for a job well done. If you landed an interview but didn’t ultimately get the job, for example, celebrate that success. At least this tells you your resume and cover letter were successful and now you can focus on other areas in need of improvement, such as your interviewing skills.

Staying positive during the job search is a constant struggle. By following these tips you can stay motivated and confident during your job seeking pursuits. Just because you’re searching for job opportunities doesn’t mean you should become a hermit, sleep till noon and spend all day alone on your laptop. Maintaining a well-rounded, healthy lifestyle during your job search will help you to be more productive and focused in the long-run. Remember to stay optimistic and have a little fun!

The Top 10 Leadership Competencies

What are the most important leadership skills? How many do you possess?

Published on April 27, 2014 by Ronald E. Riggio, Ph.D. in Cutting-Edge Leadership.

Managers, aspiring managers, and top-level leaders are all concerned with developing the competencies they need to become more effective leaders. More than 100 years of leadership research has outlined the successful skills and abilities that are associated with leadership effectiveness. Here are my top 10, derived from our own research and the broader research literature.
1. Social Intelligence (SI). This is not only one of the best predictors of effective leadership, but it is poorly understood and under-researched. Social intelligence is quite broad, but can best be seen in terms of understanding of social situations and dynamics, and ability to operate effectively in a variety of social situations. Our research suggests that social intelligence, which we define as a constellation of social performance, sensitivity to social situations, and role-playing skill are critically important for effective leadership.

How to develop SI? Expose yourself to different people, different social situations, and work to develop your social perceptiveness and ability to engage others in conversation. More on this here.

2. Interpersonal Skills. Interpersonal skills could be seen as a subset of social intelligence, but these are the more relationship-oriented aspects of social effectiveness. We often talk about the “soft skills” of the leader, and these are best represented by interpersonal skills.

How to develop interpersonal skills? Become an active listener, work on conversational and speaking skills, (join toastmasters; networking groups), and work on your personal relationships with friends, relatives, and your significant other. These skills will generalize to workplace relationships. More on soft skills here.

3. Emotional Skills/Intelligence (EI). A complement to social intelligence, emotional intelligence is our ability to communicate at the emotional level, understand emotions and emotional situations, and be in tune with our own emotions. These are particularly related to leadership “charisma.”

How to develop EI? Practice “reading” others’ nonverbal cues, particularly cues of emotion. Learn to regulate and control your emotions and your emotional outbursts. Practice expressing feelings and become an effective emotional “actor” – learning how to express emotions appropriately. More on emotional communication here.

4. Prudence. Prudence is one of Aristotle’s cardinal virtues. A synonym is “wisdom,” but it comes from being able to see others’ perspectives and through being open to and considering others’ points of view.

How to develop Prudence? Listen to others. Work to be more open and more broad minded. Learn to ask for others’ opinions and consider them as you choose a course of action.

5. Courage. A second cardinal virtue is “Fortitude,” or courage. This is having the courage to take calculated risks and the courage to: (a) stand up for what you believe; (b) do the right thing.

How to develop Courage? This takes some effort, but is rooted in developing and holding onto strong personal values. If you truly value something or someone you will have the courage to stand by your principles (and your people). More on leader virtues here.

6. Conflict Management. This is a “higher order” interpersonal skill that involves helping colleagues to avoid or resolve interpersonal conflicts. Leaders are often called upon to adjudicate when members are in conflict, but it also involves having the ability to either avoid or resolve your own conflict situations.

How to develop Conflict Management Skills. There are courses and workshops available to help you understand and learn conflict management strategies. A big part of conflict management is helping conflicting parties to collaborate (a win-win outcome) or to compromise (each party needs to be flexible and give up something).

7. Decision Making. One of the core competencies for leaders is the ability to make good decisions or lead a good decision making process. There are better and worse ways to make decisions, and a good leader understands when to make a decision, when to consult subordinates or peers and bring them into the decision making process, and when it’s time to step back and let others decide.
How to develop Decision Making Skills. Experience and studying when decisions have gone wrong and gone right is the best way to hone these skills. We often learn more from our mistakes than from our successes.

8. Political Skills. Let’s face it. Every group or organization is, at its core, full of politicking. People will try to bend rules, gain allies, push their personal agenda, etc., in order to try to get ahead. An effective leader is a good political player, who knows how the game is played, but can also manage political behavior so that it does not lead to group or organizational dysfunction.

How to develop Political Skills. Similar to many of the more highly-developed leadership competencies, political skills are learned through experience and learning about people and social dynamics.

9. Influence Skills. At its core, leadership is about influencing others, so a great leader is a master of social influence, and able to wield power effectively and fairly.  Calling on your interpersonal ("soft") skills can make you much more influential in a leadership role.

How to develop Influence Skills.  Training in debate helps with making reasoned, well-thought-out arguments.  Seeing things from another's perspective can help you understand what they want from a negotiation, and allows you to focus on win-win situations.

10. Area Expertise/Competence. Many people might list this first, but in today’s world, knowledge of all aspects of the job is not as important as it used to be. In high-tech industries, or creative firms, team members may have more relevant knowledge and expertise than leaders. Still, it is important that leaders develop their expertise in the particular situation, organization, or industry in which they lead.

How to develop Area Expertise. Like all of these competencies, development is a lifelong process. Effective leaders gain expertise and competence and try to learn as much as they can about their product, their organization, and their team members. Study the organization. Study competitors.
